2021, will you think about me?

With the start of the new year, I am constantly prompting myself, what am I even doing in this life? What are my goals?  Untamed by Glennon Doyle is my first book of the month, and it is constantly inspiring me to change the way I live my life: outside of the cages of the expectations that others are placing on me!

2021 marks the birth of what I have always wanted this blog to be.  A place to share how I style my outfits and rooms, and describe how much effort I actually put in to what (I hope) appears to be effortless.  My main goal for 2021 is: DON'T BE LAZY!

Goals for 2021: DON'T BE LAZY, broken down into 5 tangible resolutions.

1. Keep my apartment and myself photo ready at all times.
This may sound extremely superficial, and I guess it is.  It is really shorthand for "keep your apartment (and yourself) clean and tidy and composed so you can take photos of it at any time and you also won't be embarrassed about it on the off-chance you see people you know." It is also a reminder for me to take care of my things, live in a house and wear outfits that I can be proud of on a daily basis.  Because if not now, when? Why should I wait for another life to wear and display nice things?

2. Wake up at the same time every day.
I love to sleep and I have always loved to waste mornings away by sleeping. I have never been an early bird and I don't expect to ever be.  I do, however, want to start getting some consistency into my life and stop waking up later and later every day just because I seem to be able to get away with it.  I need to learn how to NOT hit snooze!

3. Plan out content.
I love to create content and I want to do so on a consistent basis here, and not just on my personal instagram approximately once a month.  I need goals so that I am not lazy about posting. If I have ideas, if I start drafts, I am more likely to follow through if I give myself my own deadline of when they should be posted.  I think that this month, an attainable goal would be to post 3x a week.  I already know posting every day is not going to happen for me. An example of some upcoming posts I hope to prepare to post this month: an intro to my new SF apartment, a one month update in this new apartment, pieces I have reused from apartment to apartment, and styling my zoom background.

4. Take notes.
I am an avid consumer of content, which is why I feel confident that I would be able to create excellent content myself.  What I need to do is notice and write down what I like about certain content, certain blog posts or instagrams, so that I can try to implement those things in my own content.  This is going to be especially important right now, as many bloggers that I look up to are sharing what has worked best for them in the past year.

5. Don't be afraid to share.
This is probably the most important goal for me.  I like to act like I'm an open book and I don't care what other people think, but obviously I do, because I have yet to share this blog with very many people! I'm scared of being judged, as usual.  I already know people will judge me for not having a ton of engagement or followers of the blog- but everyone has to start somewhere and I have to keep this in mind.  I have to keep in mind that this is something that I feel passionate about and have fun doing.  I have to keep in mind that there is no reason for anyone to judge me if I'm creating good content that people will like.  I just have to keep doing that! My goal for this year is to share this blog with everyone that follows me on my personal instagram.  Thankfully, I have the next 12 months to gain the courage to do so.

If you are reading this post, thank you.  You are a person that I trust to read my early content and that I know will support and not judge me.  Here's to 2021 and achieving goals/resolutions/intentions!

Best,
Isabella
